St. Gabriel Family Testimonials

Colette Wandler, Thailand
"This is our first Experience with a Cyber School. St. Gabriel's School has enabled my daughter, Tarra, to continue her Canadian education while living in Thailand with me. The school challenges learning skills and critical thinking. Tarra says it is interesting how students and teachers find new ways of communicating to bring a class together. St. Gabriel's has many extra curricular activites much like a traditional school, the difference being, students come from different geographical locations. They offer contests and projects providing their students with opportunities. We find the teachers to be accommodating to the difficulties that we have experienced in Thailand, respond quickly showing an interest in their students. It is a unique and worthwhile experience."

Andrea Carter, Santiago de Chile
"St. Gabe's Cyber School was a Godsend for us when we decided to move to South America with our 15 year-old daughter. We wanted her to continue with the Alberta curriculum. We were fortunate to discover St. Gabe's only days before we left Alberta, and they set us up very efficiently. St. Gabe's is providing excellent technical support and immediate response from teachers - even at this distance! Communication within this "cyber community" is great. Our daughter is able to learn first-hand about other cultures and at the same time, her school marks are higher than they have ever been."

Charmain Farrell, Alberta
"I had never heard of St. Gabriel Cyber School until July/01 on a radio program. My son looked into it and wanted to go. I told him "no", as I thought it was home schooling. He bugged me the rest of the summer about it, so my husband and I decided we had nothing to lose and registered our two boys. That was the best decision we ever made regarding their education. My youngest son who was 12 was entering Grade 7, and had very poor marks in school. He hated school, he hated the 2 hour bus ride to and from school, and was prone to total frustration with the teachers, supervisors etc. He was constantly getting in trouble for being mouthy in class.

From the first day he started at St. Gabe's, his whole attitutude changed. Even though he follows the same curriculum as conventional school, he found the work enjoyable. He can one on one with his teachers on the chat line, or email them. The teachers at St. Gabe's are very good at returning emails and the courses are very well presented. Hand In's and tests are marked within the week, so we know how is doing and if anything needs work. The best part about it is the interaction with the parents. I can contact any of the teachers and "speak" to them about marks, tests,  school work etc. I have never been so involved in my two sons education as I am now. At conventional school, we just didn't have the interaction. The teachers and staff have good christian values and are very good to work with, and are very good and kind. We are all one unit in our children's education.

My other son is in Grade 10, and doing very well compared to conventional school. Again, access to the teachers in vital and he has that at St. Gabriel. His teachers are very caring and good at teaching, and it is showing in his marks. He likes what he is doing and that counts for something.

It is such a joy to have kids who love school and get their work done without constant badgering."

"We started with St Gabriel when they began offering grade 5. Cheryce is now going into grade 10 and she plans on graduating from here. We began this journey because we were looking for quality education but still wanting to be doing it at home. We have been homeschooling our children for over 15 years and this is a wonderful replacement for me being the sole educator. She gets great feedback from her teachers, has met wonderful kids from all over and thoroughly enjoys the whole program. The staff are so supportive and offer any advice you ask for. Our family has moved 3 times during our time with St Gabriel and the stress of finding a good school never had to enter into our decisions. We just took it with us. The flexibilty it has allowed our family is exceptional. When we need extra time for assignments all we need to do is communicate with the teachers ,and discuss this time off, and they adapt it to your schedule.

Cheryce loves the freedom this school offers. It has enabled her to take extra art and piano lessons because of the free time she has and the flexibility of her schedule. She loves talking to her teachers and does feel that they care about her a lot. She knows she can email them with any problems she may have and they will help her. It has helped her with time management as she knows she has a schedule to keep and things need to be done in that timetable if possible.

Our family is very satisfied with the school and we try to encourage people to check it out and see if it would meet thier needs."

Shawna Sullivan, Alberta
"Being only a few credits short of my diploma, I thought it should have been easy to complete the courses I needed. However, living on your own and learning to support yourself, working full time, does not leave much time for an education. St. Gabe's allowed me to work on my own time, around my own schedule, and was infinately patient. The teachers are amazing, and always went out of their way to give me that little extra help. I thought learning online would be less personal than real life, but I found that I received far more attention than I had at any other school. I have already began highly reccomending it to others in the same position that I was in a year ago. Living on your own, you find that not having your high school diploma really limits you, but now St. Gabe's has given me that. Now, I can finally get my diploma and really start learning how to  support myself. Thanks so much for everything."

Shawn Haggarty, Principal
Legal School
"As Principal of Legal School, a small K-Gr. 9 rural school, St. Gabriel Cyber School has offered tremendous opportunities to the programming that were are able to offer our students.  We have been accessing programming through St. Gabe's for three years now, each year we have expanded the courses we offer through St. Gabe's.  This has allowed us to triple the option programming our junior high students can access.  The flexibility of "online learning" has been a natural fit for students, teachers and parents of our community.  For the first time ever, we have grade nine students graduating from our school this year that have completed one of the Gr. 10 core courses through St. Gabriel, this allows the students to further enhance the programming they have available to them in Gr. 10.  The staff at St. Gabriel are professional, flexible and accessible this has made our experience with "Cyber School" exceptional!!"
